Chipped Paint

The pink you had tainted my heart with

Refused to go back to red.

.

When you left

Its fissures turned blue.

.

I tried washing it away with tears, but it would do no good;

I can’t see love being any other colour,

Anything other than you.

.

How could I?

Pink compliments the colour of my soul;

We were radiant.

.

How could I?

Loving you felt like second nature;

You were home.

.

Maybe with time,

The paint will chip away

And I’ll realize you were never mine to love.

.

Maybe with time,

I can look into your eyes,

And my heart won’t skip a beat.

.

Maybe with time,

Love will be multicoloured

.

Maybe one day I’ll let you go,

Fully.
